Types of Members

DTABC offers a variety of memberships to choose from. Membership runs from January to December. If you join after June 30th of a given year certain fees are prorated for our RDT General Membership and Associate membership categories. 
In order to find the membership that best suits your needs, please read the descriptions below. If you are still unclear as to which membership suits you, do not hesitate to contact the office at office@dentaltechniciansofbc.com for clarification.

DTABC RDT-General Member – $299.00 annually plus
                             GST plus liability insurance for 2023
This membership is for Registered Dental Technicians registered by the College of Dental Technicians of BC. This is the most popular membership as it entitles the member to full benefits, including Professional liability insurance from  January 31, 2023 to January 31,2024.

Two choices for PLI coverage: Membership fee plus
$105.00 for $1 million (this amount is mandatory by BCCOHP bylaws) = $418.95 Total
                                                          or
$137.00 for $2 million (please email us if you want this coverage) = $450.95 Total

NOTE: Please see at the bottom of page for the PLI APPLICATION FORM and Please PRINT Clearly - Every General RDT member must fill out these forms to obtain Personal Liability Insurance. Payment does not mean you automatically have PL insurance. Your application form must be submitted to be approved by the insurance company. DTABC will notify the College on your behalf, once the application has been approved. You will also receive a certificate of insurance.

  • Voting rights at any general meeting
  • You are eligible to serve as an Elected or Appointed Director.

DTABC Associate Member - $150.00 annually (2023)

This membership is designed for non-RDTs, who work directly or indirectly in the profession of dental technology or have an interest in the conduct of the profession in BC.

  • With this membership, you are entitled to all benefits EXCEPT:
  • No personal liability insurance.
  • No vote at any general meeting
  • You can serve only as an appointed Director to the Board and you can join any committee

DTABC Dental Tech Assistant - $100.00 annually (2023)
This membership is geared to current dental tech assistants working in a dental lab and who are interested in expanding their education and network within the dental tech profession.

  • This membership entitles the member to all benefits EXCEPT:
  • No personal liability insurance.
  • No voting rights at any general meeting
  • You can serve only as an appointed Director to the Board and you can join any committee

DTABC Student Member - Free
This membership is for students who are attending a recognized dental technology program in Canada.
This membership entitles the member to all benefits EXCEPT:

  • No personal liability insurance
  • You can serve only as an appointed Director to the Board and you can join any committee
  • No voting rights at any general meeting

Retired Member - $25 annually
This membership is for RDTs who have retired from the industry, but would like to retain membership in order to access benefits and services.

  • This membership entitles the member to all benefits EXCEPT:
  • No personal liability insurance - they can purchase Tail End Insurance for up to 3 yrs immediately at retirement as long as they have PLI insurance coverage prior to retirement. There can be no lapse of insurance between the PLI policy and the purchasing of the Tail end Insurance.
  • You can serve only as an appointed Director to the Board and you can join any committee
  • No voting rights at any general meeting

Every General RDT member must fill out these forms for the new insurance company this year and return it to DTABC by January 10, 2023. Please make sure your forms are signed with your signature.

Note: Member Number is your RDT License Number.                                     New members must fill out the entire form.                                             Returning members from 2022 do not need to fill out the Loss               Experience area.
